This FAQ list is designed to help you with minor problems you may be experiencing with HyperMatter, and descriptions of new bugs. Please read through the list to see if the problem you have is described here.
If it isn't, or the behaviour is definitely not what you expected, please fill in the Technical Support form available, making sure you give a full description and steps on how we can reproduce it.

1. MAX exits whilst selecting objects on Twin-Processor Machines.

Description: This bug is manifest as HyperMatter claiming that it could not find a hardware lock and terminating MAX. The user is, however, given the option to save the scene before termination.
Some installations were terminating MAX during the first license verification procedure, during launch.

The licensing system we are using is far more rigorous than in version 1.0, and had problems dealing with SOME twin-processor configurations when MAX was operating with multiple threads.

Solution: Download the patch provided below, and install over your HyperMatter CD installation (ie in your 3DSMAX2 folder).

2. MAX exits after loading scene and selecting Fix Distance constraint

Description: The bug causes MAX to exit without warning when a previously saved scene utilizing a Fix Distance constraint is loaded, and the constraint selected in the list.

Solution: The bug can be avoided by clicking 'Refresh' or advancing the animation at least one frame before selecting the constraint.

3. Authorization Code does not work.

In some cases the authorization code that we sent you may not appear to be correct when entered at the authorisation prompt. This could be one of several reasons:

a) Incorrect characters entered.
The authorization code may contain similar characters. For example, 'I' and '1', or 'O' and '0'. Make sure you typed the right character. If you recieved your code by email, cut and paste the code to be sure.

b) Upper-case letters were not used.
Upper-case letters MUST be entered for the code to be recognised.

c) Incorrect Dongle order.
If you are installing the HyperMatter 1.1 Upgrade, make sure that your MAX dongles are inserted in the computer correctly. In some cases we have found that changing the order of the dongles fixes the problem if you are using the 1.2 > 2.0 Upgrade version of MAX.
If you are only using the Release version of MAX2, and do not intend using MAX1.2 again, it is advisable to remove the MAX1.2 dongle entirely to make sure there are no conflicts.

d) Minus character in lock ID.
If you are running the full release version of MAX2, and are installing HyperMatter for the first time, the lock ID number which is displayed in the authorization panel will have a minus (-) figure in front. Make sure that you include this minus in your code request, otherwise your authorisation code will not work.

If none of these options work, the solution is to uninstall totally your original MAX 1.2/HyperMatter 1.0 setup using Add/Remove Programs, and do a completely new installation from the CD into your 3DSMAX2 folder. This will fix the problem.

If you are installing HyperMatter 1.1 from the CD into MAX2 for the first time, everything should be fine.

If you continue to face problems with HyperMatter please send email to support@2n.com including your telephone number and someone will call you as soon as the mail is received.
